We also went into a little store just for Jack. The Black Dog general store had so much stuff with black labs on it!!
Fabio and I each wound up getting a t-shirt, and then we bought a new collar for Jack. We also got a Christmas ornament and a magnet. I guess you could say we went a little crazy in that store ) What can I say? We are obsessed with our dog!
Fabio’s sister Karen was also super sweet and surprised my by getting me this black lab cookie cutter. I can’t wait to bake some cookies with it and ship them to her!! Such a nice gesture.
’ house – Grasonville, MD
Since we were already in Annapolis, we decided to cross the bay bridge to head to my grandparents’ house for a BBQ.
Everyone had a great time sitting around and getting to know one another (my grandparents had never met this part of Fabio’s family before- although they have met Diane in the past
Fabio entertained the dogs
And then manned the grill (with some help from my dad)…
It was a gorgeous day and everyone had a blast!
Monday
Fabio and I spent Monday relaxing at our apartment. His family had all left by then, so we enjoyed Memorial Day by ourselves.
Our day started out with a bike ride around DC.
Naturally we went by the Arlington National Cemetery where we saw President Obama driving away (he had just finished his speech).
Hey, prez! (Let’s hope he doesn’t read this haha)
Then we saw a huge ceremony near the National Mall. There was a lot of singing and I was so touched to see some older veterans in their uniforms. It definitely made me stop to appreciate what this holiday was all about. I have to say I got a bit emotional when I saw some of the older soldiers reacting with one-another. So moving.
Our bike ride wound up being just about 10 miles. Not bad for a lazy Monday!
We spent the rest of the evening relaxing, watching House of Cards (we just started!) and doing some chores around the apartment. I also worked a bit on Fabio’s cooler.
Jack was exhausted all day Monday. Haha, too much running around I guess!
I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend and took some time to thank our armed forces for all the hard work they do!!
Question of the day: What did you do for Memorial Day??
Hey guys! I hope you had a fabulous Memorial Day weekend! Mine was a bit different dataset than last year and certainly didn’t involve as much crazy shenanigans with my friends in Dewey Beach, DE, but was still fun nonetheless.
This year I decided to abstain from the drunken festivities in Delaware with my friends for a few reasons:
I thought we were going to be in Italy this weekend and therefore avoided signing up with my friends from the beginning (this trip is now moved to July 4 week…woohoo!)
Fabio’s family all came into town from New York which hardly ever happens, so he wanted to use the opportunity to show them around Maryland
Most importantly, my grandfather got out of the hospital this weekend (wooohoooo!!!!) and I wasn’t sure if we were going to be heading down to see him (it looks like this will happen over Father’s Day instead so that the whole family can be there)
I was a little sad about my choice to stay home from the beach this year, but I wound up having a fabulous weekend anyway and in the end I decided doing stuff with Fabio’s family meant a lot more to him than a drunken weekend at the beach would have made for me. Plus I just saw all my besties when we went to Punta Cana in April, so I didn’t feel too bad. It’s all about managing your priorities.
Anyway, I took about a million pictures from this weekend, which took for-ev-er to load, so this is going to be more of a “snapshots” post with mostly pictures and only a few words. Enjoy!!
Friday
There were plenty of drinks on hand
